7-Day Itinerary

Day 1 -- Sunday, Nov 8: Arrival and Settle In

• Land at SSR Airport (MRU) at 6:55 AM, private transfer to resort (~45-60 min)
• Check in, unpack -- this is your base for the week
• Afternoon: first dip in the lagoon, explore resort facilities
• Evening: dinner at the hotel -- don't plan anything ambitious after the overnight flight
• Book a sea-view or lagoon-facing room. The sunrise over the Indian Ocean from your terrace sets the tone.

Day 2 -- Monday, Nov 9: Beach and First Snorkel

• Morning: walk Belle Mare's 5km stretch of white sand before the midday heat
• Midday: snorkelling off the beach -- parrotfish, surgeonfish, hawksbill turtles
• Afternoon: couples' massage at the resort spa
• Sunset: cocktails on the beach -- ask staff about a private sundown picnic setup
• Worth it -- the quintessential Mauritius day

Day 3 -- Tuesday, Nov 10: Ile aux Cerfs Day Trip

• Boat from Trou d'Eau Douce (15 min from east coast resorts) to Ile aux Cerfs
• Snorkel the blue lagoon between islands -- visibility 15-20m on calm days
• Lunch on the island (pack a hotel picnic for a romantic touch)
• Afternoon: explore the quiet northern tip, away from main beach crowds
• Worth it -- some of the clearest water in Mauritius
• Go on a weekday -- weekends fill with day-trippers from across the island

Day 4 -- Wednesday, Nov 11: South Coast Road Trip

• Hire a car or private driver. Head south from Belle Mare (~2 hrs to far south-west)
• Stop at Mahebourg -- waterfront town, local market, colonial architecture, fishing harbour
• Drive the wild south coast: Gris Gris cliff viewpoint, La Roche Qui Pleure natural pool, Le Bouchon beach
• Lunch at a beachside restaurant near Souillac -- fresh grilled fish and rougaille at local prices
• Drive along Le Morne Brabant (UNESCO basalt peninsula) -- watch kitesurfers at Le Morne beach
• Return north via west coast through Flic en Flac
• Worth it -- the most dramatic, wild scenery on the island

Day 5 -- Thursday, Nov 12: Chamarel Highlands

• Leave by 6 AM for sunrise at Chamarel viewpoint before tour buses arrive
• Seven Coloured Earths -- volcanic dune formation with surreal colour bands
• Chamarel Waterfall -- the island's tallest, dramatic plunge into the gorge
• Black River Gorges viewpoint -- panoramic views over the national park
• Chamarel Distillery -- pure cane rum agricole, guided tastings through the morning
• Lunch at Chamarel Restaurant -- glass-floor terrace over the gorge, French-Creole menu
• Afternoon: return via scenic mountain road, stop at roadside fruit stalls (mangoes, pineapples, lychees)
• Worth it -- the cultural and scenic soul of the island

Day 6 -- Friday, Nov 13: Catamaran Sunset Cruise

• Morning: slow beach day -- read, swim, use the resort. Intentional recovery before the evening
• Afternoon: catamaran cruise from Grand Baie or Flic en Flac (4-5 hours)
• Snorkelling stops, dolphin watching, sunset return with champagne
• Worth it -- the most romantic experience of the trip

Day 7 -- Saturday, Nov 14: Final Beach Day and Farewell

• Morning: floating breakfast at the resort (book in advance!)
• Final swim, final coffee on your terrace
• Late check-out (request in advance -- most flights depart 21:00-23:59)
• Candlelit farewell dinner on the beach
• Evening transfer to airport

Day 8 -- Sunday, Nov 15: Departure

• Depart MRU to BOM. Arrive Mumbai with a lifetime of memories.
